BIO

Born in 1980, Nirmala Biluka pursued her Ph.D in Film Studies and Visual Culture from the English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad in 2018. She did her Masters in Painting from Faculty of Fine Arts atMaharaja Sayajirao University, Baroda 2005.  

As an artist, Biluka had her first solo show, titled ‘Signals’, at Studio Napean, Mumbai, in 2007. The artist’s works have been featured in several group shows, attended summer schools, art residencies and workshops in Europe, US,Taiwan, Bangkok, Hong Kong and others .

Into academics since 2012, she has participated and presented papers at several national and international conferences, seminars, panel discussions and colloquiums.

Her works are auto biographical and women centric in nature. Her recent series of works are about  local deities of Telangana who are related with nature, fertility and protection.
