Shivaramachary Yerraginnela
BIO
Monumental sculptures are nothing new for this young sculptor. Working in an expansive studio, his sculptures often take gigantic forms unbound by material or medium. Shiva navigates through various media with the ease of a draftsman. The large sculpture he put up together for the current show represents the journey of an artist as the creator. The boat like structure and the semi figurative unique forms which are his forte, find place here too, only to be accentuated by the other abstract and minimal forms. The sculpture may be seen as an assemblage or an installation, as raw material from his workshop that he uses is scattered inside the boat as well as surrounding it. The central figure is made of scrap metal shaped using industrial laser cut method giving the form, a sharpness while enhancing the refined quality of the objects.
